Project selection
Project selection:
Project selection is a process to access each project idea and select the project with the highest priority. Projects are still just suggetions at this stage, so the selection is open mode based on only brief description of the project.Selection of Project is based on:-
1)Benefit:
A measure of positive outcomes of the project.Thease often described as "the reasons why you are undetaking the project." It includes economic, social and biodiverssity.
2)Feasibility Study:
This is the technique used to find out the feasible problem whether an alternative system can solve the problem.these include folowing of three feasibility study:
(a)Operational Feasibility:Proposed project are profitable only if they can be turned into information systems that that will meet the organization's operating needs.
following questions will help test the operational feasibility of project
- Is there enough support for the project from management?or user?
- Are current business methods according to the users?
- Have the ussers been take part in the planning and development of the project?
- Will the proposed system cause harm?
(b)Techical Feasibility:Teachnical feasbility focuses arround the present computer system (h/w or s/w) and to what extent it can support the proposed project addition.
following questions will help test the technical feasibility of project
- Does the required technology exist what is supposed to do.
- Does the suggested equipment have the technical capacity to hold the data needed to use the new system.
- Will the suggested system provide sufficient responses to inquinies , inspite of the number or location of users?
- can the system be incresed if it is developed?
- Are these technical guarntees of accuracy, reliability, ease of access and data security?
(c)Financial & Economic Feasibility:Economic analysis is the most frequently used method for finding out the effectiveness of a given system.
following questions will help test the technical feasibility of project
- The cost to perform a full systems investigation.
- The cost of H/w and S/w for the particular.
- Kind of application being examined.
- The benefits in the form of redused costs or less costly errors.
- The cost if no changes occurs.
To calculate the feasibility, a system proposal must pass all thease test otherwise it was not a fesible project.
3)Determination of system requirements:
- What is being done?
- how is being done?
- how frequently does it occur ?etc..
